From the hotel, we get on a five minute walk , to the Old Town of the city. It´s an area mentioned many times in Clarin´s book “La Regenta”. The most important building is the Gothic Cathedral. Inside, there are great relics for Christianity.
Its slender tower gives us shade for a walk through a wonderful district full of history. We can go walking on marvellous squares and streets with paving stone. These places are so well preserved that are use sometimes the perfect scenario for movies and TV series. The afternoons in San Francisco Park and the nights at the Opera in the Campoamor Theatre will offer our visit a bourgeois air.
Pre-romanesque Asturian is an architectural style. It can only be found here in Oviedo. It also has got many important buildings you shouldn´t miss and which were the symbols of the power of the kings in Asturias.
Santa María del Naranco, former royal pavillion,San Miguel de Lillo and San Julian de los Prados churches, Foncalada fountain (both are near the hotel).
Oviedo is a historical stage of the Route to Santiago. It´s built to the unique magnificence of San Salvador. From The Reconquest age, many treasures are kept in the holy chamber of the Cathedral
